§ 10-31. Definitions.

  • As used in this article, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed to them:

    Building inspector as used herein shall mean the city building inspector.

    City health officer as used herein shall mean the city health officer of the City of Athens, Texas, or his authorized agent.

    Garbage as used in this article shall mean all putrescible wastes, except sewage and body wastes, including all meat, vegetable and fruit waste and refuse, and carcasses of small dead animals and dead fowls from any premises within the city limits.

    Premises as used in this article shall be taken to mean business houses, boarding houses, offices, theaters, hotels, restaurants, cafes, eating houses, tourist camps, apartments, sanitariums, rooming houses, schools, private residences, vacant lots and other places within the city where refuse, either garbage or rubbish, accumulates.

    Public works department as used herein shall mean the City of Athens Public Works Department.

    Refuse shall be interpreted to mean all solid wastes, including garbage and rubbish.

    Rubbish as used in this article shall mean all tin cans, bottles, papers, tree limbs (which shall be cut into lengths not exceeding three (3) feet), papers, tires, etc., from any premises within the city limits. (There shall be no more than five hundred (500) tires stored on any lot at one time.)

    Rubble [is] the refuse from the construction or removal of a structure, parking lot, roadway/driveway or any other man made structure, that is an intricate part of that structure.
