§ 18-6. Discounts for early payment of ad valorem taxes.

The City of Athens adopts the scheme for discounts for early payment of ad valorem taxes authorized in Texas Property Tax Code #31.05(b) such that hereafter persons and entities making early payments of ad valorem taxes owed to the City of Athens shall be entitled to a discount on the base amount of that tax totaling:
(1)

Three (3) per cent if the tax is paid in October or earlier of the tax year;

(2)

Two (2) per cent if the tax is paid in November of the tax year; or

(3)

One (1) per cent if the tax is paid in December of the tax year.
