§ 20-7. Same—Fees; posting.

Latest version.
  • Every person operating a public vehicle in the city shall pay to the city the sum of twenty dollars ($20.00) per year as a license fee for each public vehicle owned and operated by such person, said amount payable in advance before any such person shall be authorized to operate such vehicle within the city. A separate printed receipt shall be issued for the license fee of each public vehicle, which receipt shall be affixed in a conspicuous place to the vehicle and remain there continuously. However, should the owner or operator of any public vehicle hereunder sell or exchange any such vehicle for a new one prior to the expiration of one year after the payment of such license fee, the person owning and operating such vehicle, upon application to the city secretary, shall receive a receipt as abovementioned, carrying the date as to the new vehicle, and authorizing the operation of the vehicle until the expiration of said year under the original payment of license fee. The payment by any person of the license fee required herein shall not relieve such person of the payment of the ad valorem tax or any other legal tax now required, or that may hereafter be required to be paid on any vehicle operated under the terms of this chapter.
